Photo Journal: Planting the First Demonstration Plot in Ghana with Sesa Mu
November 18, 2015
This past summer, a primary component of our work in Ghana was to partner with local farmers to plant several demonstration plots of various crops. Using demonstration plots enables us to win the trust of the people in the area and show them alternative farming techniques they can use on their small holding farms. Under the guidance of Just Hope’s David Reeves, agricultural technical advisor, we collaborated with a local university organization and more than a dozen farmers outside of Accra, Ghana, in conservation agriculture training and the planting of an initial demonstration plot of corn. This photo journal chronicles the planting of that plot and explains the basic steps of planting a new crop using conservation agriculture techniques.

- Local Involvement: In June of 2015, Just Hope partnered with Sesa Mu, a local university student-led group committed to assisting farmers with improved techniques. This photo shows members of Sesa Mu, local farmers, advocate manager Joshua Fiagbedzi (front, center) and Collins Pipim (back second from the right), Just Hope’s Innovation Hub manager in Ghana.
