Saffie Koroma, Lunsar, Sierra Leone

Saffie Koroma and her husband Foday have been invaluable partners to Just Hope in Lunsar, Sierra Leone, graciously inviting us into their community and facilitating our work there to train and equip pastors and their families.

Saffie was a child when the Sierra Leone Civil War erupted, and a young mother before it was over. The trauma of the 10-year war has lingered with all those who remember it, but remarkable people like Saffie are a testament to the resilience and goodness of people amidst chaos and terror.

The conference theme was “Encouraging Women,” and it most definitely did that. Employees and locals liked seeing that we all have a woman boss! That alone spoke volumes about our belief in the ability of women to lead their communities. Read more about our work with women in Sierra Leone, and Ashley's personal account of the conference.
